Rejuvenating your studies – a presentation
It’s hard to know how to approach your studies after getting through the MCQ. Here we talk about common Viva themes historically and how you can use the Clinical Building Blocks as a platform to rejuvenate your revision. Some great resources for the CBBs are explored also.
The Demo – a video
This is a demonstration of a full Viva with commentary and pauses to compare to the marking rubric as it progresses. It was reviewed by a FACEM that examines Vivas with the College who was able to provide some general feedback which we have outlined on the screen with the College rubric. (This demo video was recorded pre-Covid – an updated version will be coming soon!)
Down the rabbit hole
This is a series of short videos with some of our local FACEMs demonstrating ‘model answers’ for a variety of clinical building blocks and anatomy prop questions. Pay attention to how they give their answers methodically and provide a framework (e.g. labelling structures medial to lateral within a fossa, listing differential diagnoses organised by aetiology). These videos are in the process of being updated as they use anatomical props (which is not the post-Covid ACEM primary exam standard), however the verbal answers and general approach is still a valid study aid.
